Leaving Care Champion

1 year contract

As part of our exciting development of services for Care Leavers in the borough we are going to appoint a Leaving Care Champion.

You will be a Waltham Forest Care Leaver, aged over 21 years who is educated to degree level. As Leaving Care Champion you will help to organise a Care Leaver’s forum group, supporting and enabling Waltham Forest Care Leavers to develop a clear voice to feedback to us what being a Care leaver is like in Waltham Forest. The group, led by you will help us to develop services that meet our Care Leaver’s needs and help to fulfil our ambition that we support our young people to become independent and resilient adults who can manage their lives well.

To do this you will report directly to the Assistant Director for Corporate Parenting and, as a full member of the Corporate Parenting Board will advise the Portfolio Lead Member for Children and other elected members on leaving care matters.

Equal Opportunities

The Council is committed to meeting its 4 equality objectives contained within the Waltham Forest Council Equality Plan 2012/2015:

- Promoting equality of opportunity

- Opposing all forms of discrimination, intolerance and disadvantage
