About You

Are you someone who: wants to be part of the Waltham Forest team and will act as the organisational expert for GIS, supporting superusers and running training and user groups. Externally, the GIS Officer will be responsible for all GI related engagement with external suppliers, agencies and stakeholders. You would be starting with the programme in its infancy, with the opportunity to take the lead and advise the council on implementing a centralised, enterprise GIS solution infused with governance and best practice, culminating in a sustainable GIS that they will continuously improve and seek opportunity for.

No one day will be the same, the GIS Offer will have the ability to seamlessly flow between a diverse array of tasks across any spectrum of the council’s business areas. They will use their existing experience of enterprise GIS management achieving an engaging GIS experience, excellent data integrity, a visible data catalogue and insightful spatial analysis that enables more accurate and efficient decision making.

We’re looking for individuals who are driven to improve public services and have practical experience of delivering successful, working closely with internal peers they will act as the GIS champion, initially advising on and the ensuring that best practice, governance and data management are first fit for purpose and then stringently implemented during rollout.

You should have strong analytical skills, an ability to generate energy and excitement about change, the ability to work to tight deadlines and a strong drive for personal and professional development.
