Are you an ambitious building surveyor looking to expand your experience and portfolio?

Can you act as the face of our property services, both with residents and councillors?

London Borough of Waltham Forest Council is firmly committed to ensuring that every single one of our residents has access to suitable housing, no matter their circumstance. Our Repairs and Maintenance Team play a vital role in this – ensuring that each and every one of our 12,000 properties meets the high standards that we hold as service.

To continue this crucial work, we are looking to bring Surveyors into the Building Services Team. The successful candidate will take responsibility for surveying properties and assessing required repairs. We’ll look to you to take complete ownerships of repairs and maintenance projects – overseeing all necessary contractor works and ensuring complete quality control.

You will be expected to represent our service with the residents of the borough. Exercising outstanding communication skills, you’ll manage residents’ expectations and empathise with their individual situations.

About you

We are looking for well-rounded professional with wide ranging technical skills and experience. You will join us ready to hit the ground running and keen to take on larger projects and planned works where possible.

We need someone able to work with flexibility and support the rest of the team where possible. Key to this will be an ability to see the bigger picture within the service and a desire to work towards this.

You’ll have excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate with people at all levels – bolstered by your confidence and experience.

Due to the nature of the work, you will also require a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle (mileage will be paid).
