What the organisation does and location: - Waltham Forest Housing owns and manages over 12,000 properties of various types and tenures including houses, flats and maisonettes in low, medium and high rise blocks.  We also manage sheltered blocks and hostels.  Our properties are located from Chingford in the north of the borough to Leytonstone in the south.  We also have properties in Epping, Billericay and Wickford.

You will be based at Cedar Wood House, Fulbourne Road, E17 however you will spend much of your time visiting properties across our stock both within and outside of the Borough.

Brief Description of the Job:- This will involve the day to day running of the mechanical and gas repairs, maintenance and planned works contracts.  You will be involved with all aspects of mechanical and gas installations within our properties including any associated systems such as but not limited to domestic gas maintenance, communal and district heating systems, ventilation, booster sets and water hygiene.   You will have excellent communication skills and liaise with tenants, contractors, and leaseholders in the delivery of a high quality service..  You will be self-motivated and able to manage works from initial conception, specification to delivery and sign off.  You will have good writing skills, answering correspondence and investigating and replying to complaints and enquiries.

Unique Selling Points of Job: - You will be part of a small and dynamic Mechanical and Electrical team and will be passionate about the delivery of a high quality service to our residents.  This will include a wide range of projects across the borough.  From gas servicing, replacement of domestic, communal and district heating systems, energy management, billing, development of new sustainable energy systems for our properties and water hygiene.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:- You will have the latest Accredited Certification (ACS) ‘Gas’ Certificates of Competence for domestic, industrial and commercial gas installations and have at least 5 years’ experience in managing mechanical and gas contracts in a housing environment,

Essential Personal Qualities Required:- You will be self-motivated, flexible, able to work remotely and on your own initiative.  You will also work as part of a team and provide support in your field to the rest of the team.  You will be able to interact easily with housing residents and colleagues.  You will need to be able to use the standard IT packages and ideally have experience in iworld, our repairs management system.  You will need to be able to drive, have your own car and may be required to attend evening and weekend meetings as necessary.
