We require an enthusiastic tutor to join our team to lead and engage groups outdoors in Epping Forest and to deliver environmental education outreach sessions in schools and community venues in east London. Suntrap Forest Centre on the edge of Epping Forest has undergone a year-long £4.5 million refurbishment, to provide year-round residential facilities in wooden camping pods, an upgrading of our main building, along with extensive landscaping of our grounds.

What we are looking for:

As a Suntrap tutor, you will plan and deliver high quality outdoor environmental educational activities for groups from early years to post 16 as well as developing family and adult events, everything from bear hunts to A’ level ecology to corporate team building. You will have a thorough understanding of the climate emergency enabling you to lead outreach sessions in schools and community venues across East London.  

You will be able to work with the rest of the Suntrap team to assist with the work needed to develop and maintain our resources, including grounds, livestock and equipment.

You will have a knowledge and understanding of the natural world and be willing to continually learn.

The role is physically demanding and requires someone with a blend of skills and expertise, including field studies, leading workshops, bushcraft, practical conservation and animal care. You will be required to work at weekends and out of hours, but at Suntrap every day is different and enjoyable.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

Degree in ecology, environmental science, geography or related subject

Experience of planning and delivering high quality outdoor environmental education activities

Experience of working with children and young people

Clean DBS

Desirable:

Experience of delivering workshops in schools or community venues

Forest School Leader and/or bushcraft training

First aid qualification
