Vacancy Description

Internal Audit Manager – Grade PO6

Waltham Forest is an ambitious Borough. Driven by culture and the innate creativity of our residents, we have developed innovative ways to build our communities and transform our Council.

We are an organisation bursting with energy and opportunity. Over the coming year we will build on our incredible year as the Mayor’s first London borough of Culture 2019.  We will work with our communities to set out what we want Waltham Forest to be by 2030; how that relates to the ever-changing world/ climate emergency, and what that means for the services and infrastructure that we need to provide.  We need to make sure that everything we are doing today supports that vision, and helps our residents succeed in an increasingly uncertain world.

Vacancy Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced team manager to join our Internal Audit and Anti-Fraud Division to support the Deputy Head of Internal Audit and Anti-Fraud with the operational management of the Internal Audit function.

You will lead, manage and develop a new and small team of in-house staff, deliver your own portfolio of audits where your specialist knowledge and skills add value and work alongside audit specialists and private sector contractors.  Additionally, you will plan, control and co-ordinate the work required to deliver the Internal Audit plan and objectives to ensure that efficient and effective, quality services are provided to enhance the Council’s internal control framework.

The Person

You will have substantial internal audit experience at a senior level, as well as experience of working with senior managers and other key stakeholders, ideally in the public sector.

You will enjoy working with people, including senior managers across the organisation. You will have a demonstrable ability to effectively lead a small team and delivery high quality end-to-end audits and projects.  You will have the technical experience and expertise to support new developments and major change programmes by providing clear and constructive advice on risk, governance and internal control matters.  Your ability to effectively engage and influence in a constructive manner will therefore be essential, demonstrating the value of a modern, agile and effective internal audit service.

If you are a leader with drive and enthusiasm, we would love to hear from you.

If you have any questions about this role, please contact Kevin Campbell-Scott, Deputy Head of Internal Audit and Anti-Fraud, on 020 8496 4487.

Closing date:  30th June 2020
