Waltham Forest has a challenging, customer focused digital agenda. We are looking for a skilled and experienced senior developer to join our Digital Team to help deliver great public services that are not only highly effective but also easily accessible. We’ve championed the digitisation of services as well as adopting a ‘mobile first’ model to ensure we are giving our residents the greatest possible access to council services.

 

Key skill and experience for the successful candidate are:

 

  • An excellent understanding of RESTful API management, development, documentation, best practices and coding
  • Experience of using C# & .Net framework to build and deploy web services to facilitate integrations between operational systems
  • Solid experience of SQL & database development and SQL server business intelligence suite (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS)

 

As a Senior Developer you will work across a range of digital projects and service optimisation improvements. Throughout these projects you will advise on and take a hand in designing a digitally-focused application architecture across the council to underpin strategic outcomes. You will help deliver development standards working collaboratively within the digital team, and ensure high quality processes; code and integrations are delivered in line with service and customer goals.  

 

Day-to-day you will support the Lead Developer and Digital Development Manager by solutionising business requirements into tangible technical designs, building accessible services with a focus on customer needs utilising the council’s development platforms.  You’ll be involved in reviewing and recommending new digital tools and techniques that complement existing ones to improve efficiency and enhance experience. 

 

You’ll thrive using agile methods and enjoy working openly, collaboratively and as part of a multidisciplinary team focused on one or more projects at a time. Above all, you want to make Waltham Forest better, which may sometimes involve challenging the status quo.
