Community Asset Programme Manager- PO8
Community Asset Programme Manager (PO8)- 12-month Fixed Term
Waltham Forest is a borough that is going places. Diverse and growing in stature every year, the borough has become a great place to work, live and raise a family.
As a Council we pride ourselves on this, and we’re continually looking at new ways to support local people and groups. We recognise the important role that local Voluntary and Community Sector organisations (VCSOs) play in supporting residents. The Council provides accommodation to a number of these groups as part of its community buildings portfolio where differing lease arrangements are currently in place. As part of the Community Asset Review these lease arrangements will be reviewed with a view to move to a more consistent approach as well as identifying opportunities for co-location and scoping further potential for the effective use of existing and additional Council assets.
We’re looking for an exceptional programme manager to join us and lead the Community Asset Programme ensuring the programme delivers the vision and priorities set out.
You will lead on the delivery of the Community Assets Review as agreed by Cabinet in July 2019. You will manage all aspects of delivery including providing programme management ensuring the vision of the programme is realised.
This role requires a proactive and confident individual who is a good leader and motivator, who is attentive to detail and has an eye for the bigger picture. You will ensure that all groups identified as part of the programme are engaged and are put through the CBAT process. You will identify opportunities for groups and options for better use of Council Assets.
You will engage stakeholders appropriately and will produce papers for the Operational Group and Steering Group ensuring all internal stakeholders are properly briefed on progress. You will manage external providers commissioned to deliver parts of the programme ensuring suppliers are held to account and deliver against the agreed specification. You will be able to manage difficult and sensitive conversations in a diplomatic and professional manner ensuring suitable outcomes for all involved.
Closing date: Thursday 11th June 2020

Equal Opportunities
Waltham Forest is a diverse borough where diversity is valued and is integral to both, service delivery and employment of its staff. The Council is proud of its rich mix of communities and as the largest employer in the area, it works hard to respond to the changing needs of its population. We use our statutory duties on race, gender and disability equality and best practice in respect of age, faith and sexual orientation to ensure equality of opportunity in the workplace. The Council is committed to meeting its 4 equality objectives: - Promoting equality of opportunity - Opposing all forms of discrimination, intolerance and disadvantage - Ensuring our workforce reflects the diverse communities of Waltham Forest at all levels. - Providing fair, appropriate, accessible and excellent Services to all. Respecting Diversity is a core Council value. To support the above and reduce the risk of bias in its recruitment activities, the council is operating an anonymous shortlisting process, which hides personal information that can identify individuals until their application has been considered for shortlisting. The council also operates a scheme whereby, for jobs graded up to and including scale SO2, internal candidates are considered first. This includes those candidates who self-identify as having a disability for the purposes of the Disability Confident scheme. For more information, please refer to our recruitment and selection policy
