Vacancy Description

Waltham Forest Highways are currently engaged in the delivery of substantial programme of major projects, including the Enjoy programme to radically change neighbourhoods, including placing cycling at the heart of new developments.

Highways is responsible of about 420km of roads, 900km of footpaths, 30km segregated cycle tracks and require an experienced Highways and Cycle Infrastructure Supervisor (Two Year Contract). The post holder will be required to monitor the performance and safety of all works undertaken on the public highway and take action to ensure that the relevant codes of practice are followed and that the operation of the network is maintained. The Highways and Cycle Infrastructure Supervisor will focus delivering Cycle parking schemes Maintenance and to update and maintain the cycling infrastructure database as well as acting relief cover for other highway related inspections. The ideal candidates will have in depth knowledge of both Highway Maintenance and Streetworks practices.

IT skills should include the ability to use Microsoft Office packages. Experience in the use of Symology street works management system will be useful. Handheld PDA devices are used for the collection of field data.

The successful candidate will join a busy team within our Highways Department and you should therefore have good time management and organisational skills and be prepared to meet strict deadlines. A full driving licence and daily use of a vehicle will be required.
