In Waltham Forest we are transforming services through a new operating model across adults’ social care, children’s services and public health which empowers our workforce to recognise themselves as agents of change, working with residents to enable them to find their own solutions and connect into sources of support in their communities. You will be an experienced and skilled social work manager with a track record of managing effective services for adults with the confidence to transfer these skills to the Families at the Heart of Our Place approach in Waltham Forest. Your approach to leadership will support your teams to give of their best and embrace our ethos that it is relationships (with each other, with our residents, and with our partners) that make the difference in helping our residents to be safe, well, resilient and independent.

A qualified social work professional, you’ll have a demonstrable track record in delivering adult care against a background of competing demands.

You’ll be accustomed and committed to working collaboratively with partners and other stakeholders to deliver integrated services and solutions.

As an experienced manager, you’ll be able to successfully balance the different, and sometimes conflicting, demands of a multi-disciplinary team. You’ll retain a clear focus on service standard, outcomes and performance - supporting all members of your team to maximise their input and perform at their very best. Colleagues will respect your approach, including your ability to tackle performance issues and ‘take people with you’.

These roles will attract a retention bonus with £1000 payable in July and £1000 payable in December subject to sickness levels or any capability or disciplinary actions

Reporting to the Head of Service for Settings and Workforce Safeguarding you will manage a motivated team, maintaining and developing a professional and high-quality service to meet all Council, professional and legislative requirements.

You will manage the performance and development of staff in your team. You will ensure our service delivery appropriately supports adults and carers to meet their outcome(s), optimises the safety and wellbeing of adults in accordance with our robust Safeguarding Adult policies and procedures, and ensures no unlawful deprivation of liberty takes place.

The team is dynamic and provides specialist Safeguarding Adult advice and guidance in accordance with The Care Act 2014, PAN London Safeguarding Adults Policies and Procedures, local London Borough of Waltham Forest (LBWF) operational policies and procedures, and best practice guidance. While Safeguarding Adult Enquiries are not undertaken by the Safeguarding Adults and Dols Service, the Service assumes the role of Safeguarding Adults Enquiry Officer and Safeguarding Adult Manager for complex and/or large-scale enquiries.

The team quality assures Safeguarding Adult activity in LBWF Adult Social Care, supports with ongoing developments in local policies and procedures and carries out work to support the strategic objectives of the LBWF Safeguarding Adults Board.

The team receives and manages all Dols applications; ensuring activity is carried out in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005, Dols Codes of Practice, national guidance, case law, local operational policies and procedures, and best practice guidance. Moreover, the team supports with the development of local policies and procedures and provides advice and guidance related to Dols and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
