There is a real buzz about our corner of London.

As the Mayor of London’s first London Borough of Culture, Waltham Forest is  London’s culture hotspot and one of the greenest and fastest growing areas in the capital. With fantastic connectivity, huge investment potential and limitless ambition we are fast becoming well known for economic growth and regeneration credentials.

Over the past few years Waltham Forest has changed drastically as a place; excellent schools, new homes, good culture facilities and investment in our public realm and transport infrastructure. Community entrepreneurship and the increase in creative businesses choosing to set up business here emphasises the sense of fellowship and cohesion that the borough invokes.

Our ambition for Waltham Forest residents is that everyone benefits from ‘Good Growth’ and better life chances.

Our new Economic Growth and Housing Delivery Directorate is at the heart of delivering the Council’s ambitions for growth, both directly and indirectly, through our plans, services and, most importantly, our focus on delivery.

We aim to be bold and radical in harnessing the power of our unique strengths and assets – our communities, our people, our businesses and our heritage.

The role

We are seeking a highly motivated and capable individual to join our Business Growth Team to support the delivery of our workspace agenda and the management of one of our flagship creative workspaces.

The role will involve the day to day management of 28 studios and marketing the workspace to generate revenue.  You will also be expected to animate the events and activity space, generating additional income from this.  The successful candidate will be expected to use their creative, innovative and entrepreneurial skills to drive the success of the workspace.

The role will also support the development of the Blackhorse Lane Creative Enterprise Zone, by building strong relationships with a wide variety of creative businesses and fostering an atmosphere of cohesion, collaboration and fun.

This is an exciting time to join Waltham Forest – London’s first Borough of Culture and the winner of the Municipal Journal “Council of the year” award.

If you are interested in this role and would like further details, I would encourage you to contact the recruitment manager, Maureen Branch-Davis, Business Growth Programme Manager. Email: Maureen.branch-davis@walthamforest.gov.uk

The position will be for a fixed term period until December 2021.

Equal Opportunities

Waltham Forest is a diverse borough where diversity is valued and is integral to both, service delivery and employment of its staff. The Council is proud of its rich mix of communities and as the largest employer in the area, it works hard to respond to the changing needs of its population. We use our statutory duties on race, gender and disability equality and best practice in respect of age, faith and sexual orientation to ensure equality of opportunity in the workplace. The Council is committed to meeting its 4 equality objectives: - Promoting equality of opportunity - Opposing all forms of discrimination, intolerance and disadvantage - Ensuring our workforce reflects the diverse communities of Waltham Forest at all levels. - Providing fair, appropriate, accessible and excellent Services to all. Respecting Diversity is a core Council value. To support the above and reduce the risk of bias in its recruitment activities, the council is operating an anonymous shortlisting process, which hides personal information that can identify individuals until their application has been considered for shortlisting. The council also operates a scheme whereby, for jobs graded up to and including scale SO2, internal candidates are considered first. This includes those candidates who self-identify as having a disability for the purposes of the Disability Confident scheme.
