Connecting Communities Network Manager (PO4)
Connecting Communities Networks
Leytonstone Network Manager
(PO4) £38,994 - £41,847 (fixed term until September 2020)
Waltham Forest is a borough that is going places. Diverse and growing in stature every year, the borough has become a great place to work, live and raise a family. As a council we pride ourselves on this, and we’re continually looking at new ways to support local people, improve their life chances and create a new relationship with our community through our Connecting Communities programme.
Waltham Forest was selected as one of only five Integration Area pilots nationally - and the only one in London. Connecting Communities is more than a programme; it represents a new movement that has impacted across the community, council and partners and our local networks are at the heart of this. The programme empowers residents to take the lead in their communities and be the catalyst for change; providing the support and infrastructure required to enable residents to achieve their ambitions.
This is a bold and wide ranging plan, and a key component is our Connecting Communities Network Managers. Our Network Managers have built an in-depth understanding of our local communities, finding out what matters to them, and most importantly encouraging them to work with us to deliver sustainable improvements, as well as working with key services that are delivering at the local level to ensure they meet community needs.
We’re looking for a Network Manager for the Leytonstone network area who can both harness and embrace the opportunities for local people in this area. This role requires a proactive and confident individual who can develop new ideas, challenge perceptions, and identify opportunities working alongside the voluntary and community sector, local residents and services.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. For more information on this role please download our employment packs, and for an informal chat please contact Sajda Shah by email to arrange a time to discuss further sajda.shah@walthamforest.gov.uk
Deadline for all applications is Midnight 27th October 2019
Equal Opportunities
Waltham Forest is a diverse borough where diversity is valued and is integral to both, service delivery and employment of its staff. The Council is proud of its rich mix of communities and as the largest employer in the area, it works hard to respond to the changing needs of its population. We use our statutory duties on race, gender and disability equality and best practice in respect of age, faith and sexual orientation to ensure equality of opportunity in the workplace. The Council is committed to meeting its 4 equality objectives: - Promoting equality of opportunity - Opposing all forms of discrimination, intolerance and disadvantage - Ensuring our workforce reflects the diverse communities of Waltham Forest at all levels. - Providing fair, appropriate, accessible and excellent Services to all. Respecting Diversity is a core Council value. To support the above and reduce the risk of bias in its recruitment activities, the council is operating an anonymous shortlisting process, which hides personal information that can identify individuals until their application has been considered for shortlisting. The council also operates a scheme whereby, for jobs graded up to and including scale SO2, internal candidates are considered first. This includes those candidates who self-identify as having a disability for the purposes of the Disability Confident scheme. For more information, please refer to our recruitment and selection policy
