OPTION AND ASSESSMENT OFFICERS
2 x FIXED-TERM CONTRACTS FOR 12 MONTHS
This is an exciting time to join the London Borough of Waltham Forests’ Assessment and Preventions Team as an Options and Assessment Office
The successful candidates must have detailed knowledge and experience of working with homelessness legislation including the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. You will be responsible for the effective delivery of the Council’s duty to prevent and relieve homelessness for households who approach the Council in housing need.
You will be required to provide comprehensive housing advice to households with a range of tenures. You will interview clients, assess their circumstances, decide what statutory duties may be owed and identify their housing options. You must have the ability to prioritize and manage a large caseload with minimal supervision. This may involve assisting homeless households to avoid the experience of temporary accommodation by engaging with all necessary parties including landlords and other excluders to stop the loss of their current accommodation followed by a planned move to the Private Rented Sector where appropriate.
You will be a highly motivated person that can engage with vulnerable members of the public, assisting them to avoid homelessness and have the ability to work collaboratively with partner agencies, housing associations, police, social services, drug and alcohol agencies and other relevant stakeholders.
The successful candidate must be available to commence in this role by October 2019.
