It’s an exciting time to join the London Borough of Waltham Forest as a Social Worker. 

We are transforming our services to provide high-quality person-centered care and support that needs forward thinking Social Workers. We’ll look to you to help us deliver great outcomes for adult social care users, carers, families and communities, through dynamic care management and excellent social work practice. 

Reporting to a Practice Manager, you’ll dynamically manage a caseload that involves undertaking the full legal range of social care assessments and developing person-led support plans to meet the needs and outcomes of individuals. 

You’ll be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality and legally compliant social care practice to agreed standards. This will maximise the independence and wellbeing of adults and older people, and support carers, families and communities to play an active role and build resilience. 

You’ll work as part of a wider team within the Specialist Social Work Service or Community Wellbeing and Independence Service, as well as across agencies with colleagues in health. We’ll look to you to support people with a range of needs, including learning disabilities, mental health and physical and sensory impairments. 

You’ll have responsibility for supervising and mentoring our social care assistants and we’ll provide you with the environment and support to develop your professional practice and career.

About you 

This role requires an experienced individual, with a proven track record of delivering outstanding care in culturally sensitive way that matches the needs of a multi-cultural community. Your knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance and procedures will be second to none. 

We want people who are team players and can work effectively under pressure. You’ll have outstanding communication skills and the ability to engage service users, colleagues and third parties alike.
