Are you ready to create change that will support young people to thrive in Waltham Forest? An exciting opportunity to be the next Life Chances Youth Participation Apprentice is now available within the council!

Working in the Life Chances project team you will be working to deliver on our Life Chances commitment to develop, engage and encourage Young People to participate and inform the delivery of Council services and decision making processes, particularly with regard to our activities to improve the life chances of young people.  The key objectives of this role are:

  • Mainstreaming youth participation and engagement at Waltham Forest Council
  • Reach young people ‘previously unreached’ by the council and bring them into our youth participation approach
  • Ensure youth participation approach is sensitive to the multiple dimensions of inequality.

This is a fast-paced role in a passionate and dynamic team. You will be expected to combine a passion for young people, project management skills and a can-do approach to support efficient delivery of the programme.

This will involve working with the Life Chances Youth Task Force, a group of 14-21 year old residents to plan priorities for the next year and with senior stakeholders to influence the direction of the council’s work.

The Person

The successful applicant will have a passion for creating change, a positive, can-do attitude and ability to engage with young people from a variety of different backgrounds whilst managing a varied workload.

 You will have high levels of enthusiasm for the programme of work, excellent organisation and communication skills (both written and verbal) and adopt a pro-active approach to developing new skills. You will have the ability to show initiative, managing priorities and your own time, whilst building strong relationships with the team.
