Scale – PO3 / PO4 dependent upon qualifications and experience 

Governors seek to recruit a School Business Manager to undertake key strategic and operational duties which are not directly related to teaching and learning. The scope of the role encompasses financial and HR management as well as premises and health and safety issues. 

As part of the school’s Senior Leadership Team, the School Business Manager plays a key strategic role in linking strong financial management to the school improvement planning process. They assist senior staff in understanding the implications of Government policies and help to plan and implement initiatives, considering all the financial and other resource implications. 

The School Business Manager helps equip the Leadership team with an additional set of business related skills thus enabling it to continue to develop in a contemporary context. 

Additionally, central to the role is the identification of new funding streams and activities and the successful marketing of the school. This may generate additional income for the school. 

Candidates should hold a relevant NCSL School Business Management qualification, have a portfolio demonstrating considerable managerial experience in the education sector and be innovative and creative in their approach to their work.
