An exciting opportunity has arisen for customer focused; target driven and experienced Property Standards Officer to join our team. You will be contributing to the increasingly important work of the Council’s Housing Solutions Service to maintain property standards in temporary accommodation and ensure that we deliver value for money through effective contract monitoring.

About the Role:

You will ensure that property standards are met across our temporary accommodation portfolio by working collaboratively with accommodation providers. You will also ensure that providers comply with contract specifications, where necessary recommend sanctions such as with-holding payments and or other actions to address serious cases of dangerous conditions.

You will be proactive with property inspections, carrying out tenancy audits, advising residents about effective self-help measures to address mould, condensation and infestation.

You will manage customer expectations with regards to rehousing request by promoting self-help schemes and private renting options where necessary.

You will have an understanding of homelessness legislation, duties owed to homeless applicants and derivative rights to occupy temporary accommodation and situations where duty may be discharged.

You will have experience of identifying, assessing housing needs of individuals or households in temporary accommodation.

Commitment to high standards of customer care, as well as the ability to draft complex letters is essential.
