Highams Park Secondary School is seeking to appoint a highly organised and enthusiastic Lead Science Technician to support the effective delivery of practical science across the Science Department.

This is a key role within the school, leading the technical support for Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and ensuring that practical lessons are safe, well‑resourced and inspiring for our students.

As Lead Science Technician, you will:

  • Manage and coordinate day‑to‑day technical support for all science teaching
  • Prepare, maintain and clear away equipment and materials for practical lessons
  • Lead on health and safety within the department, including CLEAPSS guidance and risk assessments
  • Maintain laboratories, prep rooms and equipment to a high standard
  • Manage chemical stocks, ordering, storage and disposal
  • Line‑manage and support other science technician staff, where applicable
  • Work closely with teaching staff to support curriculum delivery and enrichment activities

 We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working as a science technician, preferably within a secondary school
  • Has a strong understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures
  • Is highly organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Communicates effectively with staff and students
  • Has good practical knowledge across Biology, Chemistry and Physics
  • Is committed to supporting high‑quality teaching and learning

Relevant qualifications or training (e.g. science background, CLEAPSS training) are desirable, but a willingness to develop professionally is essential.
