The Opossum Federation is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Premises Manager to lead the caretaking and site management across our schools. We are dedicated to providing a safe, inspiring environment for our pupils, and we need a dedicated professional to ensure our facilities meet these high standards.
The Role
As the Premises Manager, you will be responsible for the property and asset management of the Federation's schools. You will work closely with Head Teachers to manage site security, maintenance, and the health and safety of all pupils and staff.
- Workplace: Dawlish Primary School, Newport School, Oakhill Primary School, and Thorpe Hall Primary School.
- Salary: Scale PO6 Point 40 - 43.
- Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday (All year round).
- Shifts: Staggered between 7:00 am and 6:30 pm to meet operational needs.
- Status: Permanent.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Line manage the Site Support Officer (SSO) team and cleaning staff, including recruitment, training, and appraisals.
- Operational Management: Oversee site security (CCTV, alarms, and fire safety), manage specialist premises functions, and lead on risk assessments.
- Maintenance & Repairs: Identify defects, manage repair schedules, and undertake specialist cleaning or remedial electrical repairs.
- Project & Budgeting: Prepare contract specifications for tender, monitor associated budgets, and lead on project management for building works.
- Compliance: Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH, and safeguarding policies.
About You
We are looking for a collaborative leader who prioritizes safety and demonstrates:
- Experience: Several years of senior caretaking or site management experience, ideally within a school setting.
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 4, HND, or Degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent senior experience). A Qualified C&G Level 3 (Electrician) is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ICT, ability to manage complex budgets, and knowledge of health and safety legislation.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to liaise effectively with staff, governors, and external contractors.
- Adaptability: A flexible approach to working hours and a willingness to participate in ongoing training.
