Job Description: We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Site Services Officer to join our team. Under the direction of the Headteacher/SLT and Site Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the site is safe, well-maintained, and provides a welcoming environment for all users. The successful candidate will work closely with the Site Manager, with a view to progression and ongoing training provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Security: You will be a keyholder responsible for locking and unlocking all school buildings and areas. This includes operating alarm systems, monitoring CCTV, and assisting with regular security checks. You will also respond to emergency alarm callouts and provide emergency access to the school site.
  • Cleaning & Maintenance: You will undertake minor repairs such as plumbing, changing light bulbs, and repairing door furniture. Duties also include undertaking cleaning tasks, including graffiti removal and emergency cleaning, and collecting waste for recycling. You will ensure all services (heating, lighting, and plumbing) are operating to a satisfactory standard.
  • Supervision & Organisation: You will supervise the cleaning team, ensuring rotas are followed and high standards of cleanliness and maintenance are upheld. You will also assist with the movement of furniture and manage the orderly and secure storage of supplies.
  • Other Duties: You will be required to cover lettings, which may involve working evenings or weekends. You must be flexible and available for split shifts to cover absences and amended hours during school holidays. You will assist with coordinating deliveries and supervising contractors on site.

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience in site/facilities management, caretaking, or maintenance is essential.
  • Experience working as part of a team is required.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills are necessary.
  • A good understanding of health and safety legislation and compliance in schools is essential.
  • The ability to use IT systems for record keeping and managing facilities tasks is required.
  • Willingness to gain knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and decorating repair procedures.
  • Willingness to gain knowledge of COSHH regulations.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is a must.
