About the role:
The Licensing Service is seeking to recruit a part time Licensing Support Officer to support the Council's Licensing Service.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, organised, motivated and respond well to working in a pressurised environment, working to deadlines/targets and demonstrate a real commitment to providing excellent customer care and top quality service.
The appointed officer will provide administrative and office support in relation to various areas of public control licensing, including regulated entertainment, the sale of alcohol, gambling and special treatments.
Displaying excellent verbal and written communication skills and flexibility, the successful candidates will play a central role in the delivery of licensing objectives.
We are looking for a motivated and dedicated officer with a demonstrable commitment to providing top quality regulatory services in this often fast paced and demanding area.

Key Responsibilities:
- To process and monitor Licensing applications for which the service has responsibility for, including undertaking the necessary consultation and issuing licensing/registration renewal notices as necessary. Ensure applications are processed to statutory deadlines and standards and in accordance with the Council's legal obligations.
- To respond to enquiries and statutory objections in connection with licences and registrations, coordinating information and arranging hearings to determine contested applications. Ensuring that work carried out is to a high standard and in accordance with statutory requirements and that the administrative functions provided are timely and of a high standard.
- To liaise and consult with internal and external parties associated with licensing and registration applications, legislation and procedures. Including Metropolitan Police, London Fire, Planning, residents, Ward Councillors, objectors and other Council/external agencies. To ensure statutory/procedural obligations are met.
- To maintain a knowledge of and apply legislation relevant to licensing. To represent the team and department at internal and external meetings. This may include minute taking giving accurate first stage advice and information relating to licensing matters and application process.
- To act as point of contact for the service providing information to all personal and telephone callers in accordance with the required standards of customer care, ensuring that clear and accurate messages are taken and passed promptly to relevant officers, as appropriate.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- To be considered for this role you should have Licensing administrative experience or other similar administrative experience.
