About the role:

Waltham Forest Employment, Business and Skills Service is the local authority's direct provider of Employment advice and Opportunities, Businesses support and adult learning-Skills education. The Skills area is Officially rated as "Good" with 'Outstanding' for Personal Development following our OFSTED inspection in November 2023, we are on a journey to "Outstanding."

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Employment, Business and Skills Service, for aCustomer and Business Support Officer. The role would suit someonewho is looking to further develop a career in customer service and administration or diversify into the Employment/Business or Skills areas. You will experience a diverse range of tasks to enable the teams to provide the best service to our residents.

We are looking for a dynamic, flexible person with a willingness to grow. You need to be confident and proactive to work independently and as part of a team, have excellent communication and IT skills, data inputting accuracy and a desire to continue developing yourself and the service.

The successful candidate will be required to work shift patterns to include evenings to 9:30pm and Saturdays to 4:00pm.

Key Responsibilities:

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Experience of having worked in a fast faced, customer focused environment.
  • Excellent knowledge and application of IT systems and software packages.
  • Relevant legislative and or procedural knowledge for specialist area.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, using problem solving skills and initiative to provide a customer focussed support service.
  • Excellent levels of literacy and numeracy.
  • Ability to work flexibly, balancing competing priorities and meeting deadlines whilst understanding the needs, timescales and deadlines of others
  • Ability to deal diplomatically and confidentially with a wider range of stakeholders internally and externally
  • Ability to identify improvements to processes and systems and to share the recommendations with the wider team.

Qualifications and Requirements:

English and Math Qualification

Relevant NVQ Level 3/4 qualification (or equivalent)
