Heathcote School (11 – 18) has an ambitious vision and plans to provide the best possible local education for young people in Waltham Forest. We are determined to continue to improve the life-chances of our most vulnerable pupils. As an inclusive school we thrive for all pupils to reach their full potential and embracing diversity is one of our key strengths. Heathcote has undergone a successful transformational journey over the last 5 years and key performance indicators are strong in many areas, including being over-subscribed for the first time in Year 7 for 2022. External reviews in 2021 have highlighted our ‘clear positive vision’ and ‘significant safeguarding strengths.’ This is an exciting time to be at a school in an impressive setting and a school-wide commitment to ensure that the pandemic does not prevent the ambition and success of our pupils and staff. Staff feedback is very positive about working in our school.
We are looking for a qualified and talented Teacher of ICT/ Business, to teach Digital Information Technology, Computer Science and IT BTEC across the Y7 to Y13 ability range. The school puts well-being and development at the heart of its work, and we have very talented staff who are encouraged to grow and develop collaboratively, within school and with local schools, to be the best they can be. We are working to raise standards in a ‘high challenge, low threat’ way and enable robust systems which ensure consistency in all areas and encourage growth and development for all. We are part of the North East London School Teaching Hub, Seven Kings Teaching Alliance, and the West Essex Teaching School Alliance. The school has excellent resources and an impressive, spacious site on the edge of Epping Forest including a staff car park and surrounding roads that do not require a parking permit. Waltham Forest is a diverse borough where diversity is valued and is integral to both, service delivery and employment of its staff. The Council is proud of its rich mix of communities and as the largest employer in the area, it works hard to respond to the changing needs of its population. We use our statutory duties on race, gender and disability equality and best practice in respect of age, faith and sexual orientation to ensure equality of opportunity in the workplace. The Council is committed to meeting its 4 equality objectives: - Promoting equality of opportunity - Opposing all forms of discrimination, intolerance and disadvantage - Ensuring our workforce reflects the diverse communities of Waltham Forest at all levels. - Providing fair, appropriate, accessible and excellent Services to all. Respecting Diversity is a core Council value. To support the above and reduce the risk of bias in its recruitment activities, the council is operating an anonymous shortlisting process, which hides personal information that can identify individuals until their application has been considered for shortlisting. The council also operates a scheme whereby, for jobs graded up to and including scale SO2, internal candidates are considered first. This includes those candidates who self-identify as having a disability for the purposes of the Disability Confident scheme. For more information, please refer to our recruitment and selection policy
