Marketing & Engagement Officer PO1
Marketing & Engagement Officer PO1
Bursting with culture, energy, and opportunity, Waltham Forest is a place where people want to live, work, raise a family, and start a business. We do all we can to improve the lives of residents and maintain the borough’s reputation as an attractive and dynamic place to visit and invest in. We’re looking for candidates with initiative, resolve and creativity to help us build on our successes as the Mayor of London’s first-ever London Borough of Culture: expectations, confidence and ambitions are high.
The culture and heritage team is responsible for the delivery of a high quality and inclusive cultural offer, including Vestry House Museum, the award winning William Morris Gallery and a range of ambitious arts and event activities. Working with and engaging our diverse local communities, regional and national partners, you will work with the Marketing & Engagement Manager on the development and delivery of key campaigns that promote this offer across all channels. You will also work closely with the corporate comms team to support internal communications and maximise the profile and visibility of Culture and Heritage Service across the borough.
You will bring experience of planning and delivery of marketing and audience engagement plans, ideally in a cultural, museum or gallery context, which have effectively and creatively engaged diverse audiences, locally, nationally and internationally. Experience and knowledge of the use of digital media and familiarity of different digital channels is essential. You will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to operate to tight deadlines in highly pressured environments.
Waltham Forest Council recognises that diversity is a strength and what people bring through their personal experiences, background and identity significantly enhances our ability to deliver to our staff and residents. Therefore, we would particularly welcome applications from individuals with a Black, Asian or other global majority background, those who identify as disabled and individuals from the LGBTQI+ community.
In your application, please make sure you show how you can meet the job specific accountabilities and demonstrate the experience required. Interviews are planned for the 4 July and 5 July 2022. For further information or a discussion, please contact Nicola Gray by email: nicola.gray@walthamforest.gov.uk
Equal Opportunities
Waltham Forest is a diverse borough where diversity is valued and is integral to both, service delivery and employment of its staff. The Council is proud of its rich mix of communities and as the largest employer in the area, it works hard to respond to the changing needs of its population. We use our statutory duties on race, gender and disability equality and best practice in respect of age, faith and sexual orientation to ensure equality of opportunity in the workplace. The Council is committed to meeting its 4 equality objectives: - Promoting equality of opportunity - Opposing all forms of discrimination, intolerance and disadvantage - Ensuring our workforce reflects the diverse communities of Waltham Forest at all levels. - Providing fair, appropriate, accessible and excellent Services to all. Respecting Diversity is a core Council value. To support the above and reduce the risk of bias in its recruitment activities, the council is operating an anonymous shortlisting process, which hides personal information that can identify individuals until their application has been considered for shortlisting. The council also operates a scheme whereby, for jobs graded up to and including scale SO2, internal candidates are considered first. This includes those candidates who self-identify as having a disability for the purposes of the Disability Confident scheme. For more information, please refer to our recruitment and selection policy
