Service Improvement Advisor PO5 (Secondment Opportunity)
Service Improvement Advisor (£43,860 – £46,839)
About the roles
Waltham Forest Council are introducing a service review and improvement capability to provide intensive support in areas where there are acute challenges, emerging ideas, the need for new evidence on impact, and where future trends can be explored.
Working within the corporate Change Delivery Team, these 12-month fixed term Service Improvement roles will help us to scope, structure and deliver a number of reviews into key service areas across all the council’s directorates and departments.
The roles will help the council:
- understand the major challenges facing our services
- ensure we are focusing resources where we can make the greatest impact
- manage current and future demand
- harness technology and new ways of working
- develop new operating models for services and the council overall
They will function as part of a durable team, working with project managers, insight & design managers, service designers, and business intelligence analysts as well as colleagues from finance, communications, digital and HR as appropriate.
We want individuals with the drive to improve public services, who can use specialist skills, knowledge and understanding of service improvement within a public sector context.
You will have the ability to work to tight deadlines, delivering outputs and focusing on outcomes in an extremely fast-paced environment. You will mix strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills together with the ability to generate excitement and enthusiasm about change.
Your interpersonal skills will be critical, as you work with colleagues from across your own and other directorates, providing leadership and challenge to managers, and building relationships with frontline staff.
You are asked to provide an expression of interest in either of the roles by submitting no more than 800 words, evidencing your career to date and your suitability for the role.
The submission deadline is Thursday 30th June. Shortlisting will be confirmed by Friday 1st July, with interviews to take place during w/c 4th July.
For informal enquiries, please contact Edmund Wildish (Head of Change Delivery), email@example.com.
Waltham Forest is a diverse borough where diversity is valued and is integral to both, service delivery and employment of its staff. The Council is proud of its rich mix of communities and as the largest employer in the area, it works hard to respond to the changing needs of its population. We use our statutory duties on race, gender and disability equality and best practice in respect of age, faith and sexual orientation to ensure equality of opportunity in the workplace. The Council is committed to meeting its 4 equality objectives: - Promoting equality of opportunity - Opposing all forms of discrimination, intolerance and disadvantage - Ensuring our workforce reflects the diverse communities of Waltham Forest at all levels. - Providing fair, appropriate, accessible and excellent Services to all. Respecting Diversity is a core Council value. To support the above and reduce the risk of bias in its recruitment activities, the council is operating an anonymous shortlisting process, which hides personal information that can identify individuals until their application has been considered for shortlisting. The council also operates a scheme whereby, for jobs graded up to and including scale SO2, internal candidates are considered first. This includes those candidates who self-identify as having a disability for the purposes of the Disability Confident scheme. For more information, please refer to our recruitment and selection policy
