
Strategic Finance Advisor Housing
The Strategic Finance Advisor will lead, plan, develop and deliver an expert professional service within the Housing service area providing high-level expert advice to senior officers and Councillors ensuring the Council’s financial resources in Housing are managed effective and ensuring the Council maximises service outcomes in relation to cost. Key responsibilities will include
- Supporting the formulation of the Councils’ Medium Term Finance Strategy, and leading on the HRA Business Plan and Housing Strategy
- Providing high-level advice and support to the Council, councillors and senior managers including training and financial implications of legislation
- Developing key relationships with senior stakeholders to ensure that all financial resources are used in the most cost effective way to meet the Council’s priorities and improve devolved financial management
- Undertaking special projects, technical and statistical financial work as required including option appraisals and financial modelling
To be suitable for the role you need to be a qualified accountant with the ability to develop relationships and influence senior stakeholders. Proven experience of leading and improving teams, ideally supporting Housing services, is also essential.
Going forward Waltham Forest will be operating a hybrid working model, with a greater balance between home based and office working, subject to role requirements.
