Connecting Communities Programme Team, Volunteering Development Officer roles (PO7) both Subject to Evaluation

At Waltham Forest we believe our communities are our greatest asset and we are passionate about providing them the best possible public service. Over the past 18 months, as one of only five government funded Areas of Integration, we have delivered ambitious programmes of engagement with our residents, community leaders and networks which aimed to build social cohesion, social capacity and shared responsibility. Notably, early in 2020, we held the world’s first ever Citizens’ Assembly on hate crime and are now building on its success by working closely with our community members on the development of key strategies for tackling other social inequalities.

We are looking for build a team that will manage a portfolio of innovation projects and help us to continue to build a world class volunteering workforce. As part of the team you will work alongside our communities to build mutual understanding and jointly explore opportunities on how we can work together; through our programmes we will ensure high quality products are delivered on time and achieving maximum return on investment. As a team we will oversee our relationship with the borough’s Voluntary and Community Sector, aiming to grow their collaborative capacity and identifying strategic opportunities across both sectors that drive efficiency, community empowerment and improved outcomes for residents.

These roles call for an experienced managers of ground-breaking volunteering and programme strategy.  We are looking for people who can inspire an already ambitious and public-focused service while building strong relationships with senior officers and members, providing them with insightful advice and ensuring their priorities are reflected in the products developed. Being passionate about eradicating inequalities and believing in the process of participatory democracy are key values to be held by the successful candidate.
